Patagarri

Pata-what?!
Patagarro is a self made tool useful in the construction of musical instruments,
most of the times it is invented by the luthier himself to facilitate, fasten and make a particular processing more precise.
It is no Italian dictionary word but it has been used for years by the luthiers that attended my same school,
without knowing who said it first.

THE CUTAWAY PATAGARRO

THE CUTAWAY PATAGARRO

This little tool helps me shaping the Maple patch I put on the Moderno Ukes’ cutaway.

THE NUT PATAGARRO

THE NUT PATAGARRO

Used in combination with a small bench circular saw it creates the 4 string slots on the nuts.

THE RADIATOR

THE RADIATOR

One of my biggest patagarri: it roughly shapes the sides/back joint. The job will be finished by hand.

THE SIDEBENDER

THE SIDEBENDER

I built two of these patagarri for each ukulele size. Used in combination with a heating blanket it nicely bends the sides, bindings and kerfings of my ukuleles.

THE BRIDGE PATAGARRO

THE BRIDGE PATAGARRO

It is almost a Transfomer robot. This 2 piece patagarro helps me routing the slots for the saddle and the strings on the bridges.

BRIDGE POSITION TEMPLATES

BRIDGE POSITION TEMPLATES

These templates point the proper position for the bridge, on a complete ukulele, adding the right compensation to scale lenght.

SCARF JOINT PATAGARRO

SCARF JOINT PATAGARRO

This patagarro has to be used under a drum sander. It roughly levels the neck’s scarf joint to the right angle. The perfect joint is reached by hand.

THE NECK JOINT PATAGARRO

THE NECK JOINT PATAGARRO

One of my first patagarri. I used it in combination with some templates to create the male and female parts of the body/neck joint.
